Keep your care history safe
Your Offline records live on your phone. Make a full backup regularly and before replacing your phone, clearing app storage, or uninstalling. Android automatic app backup is disabled for this edition.
Make a full backup
- Open Settings → Export full backup.
- Finish the save or share step and keep the JSON file somewhere you can access without this phone, such as your computer or a storage service you choose.
- Check that the file is actually saved and can be found in that location. Keep dated copies rather than replacing your only backup.
The full backup includes child profiles, activities, milestone photos available on this device, Milk Stash, and Offline settings. CSV exports and provider PDFs are useful reports, but are not a complete replacement for a full backup.
Backups are not password-encrypted by the app and can contain sensitive family information and photos. Protect the file and share it only with people you intend. Saving to email or cloud storage sends the file to the service you choose.
Restore on a replacement Android phone
- Install the Offline edition using the Google Play account that purchased it, on a supported Android device. Reinstalling the app does not itself restore your care records.
- Make your saved JSON backup available on the replacement phone.
- Open Settings → Import backup, choose the file, review the record counts, and tap Import.
- Check the child profiles, Activity, milestone photos, and Milk Stash before erasing the old phone or deleting your original backup.
Offline import adds missing records and keeps existing records with matching IDs. It is not an undo button for changes to an existing record. Home settings are restored only when none are already saved. Imported reminders start disabled: review and enable them in Reminders. Running timers are not restarted; finish or record those activities yourself.
If an import reports an error, keep the backup and existing app data. Contact support with the message and app version before clearing anything.
Move to the separate Online app
Online availability is separate from the Offline release. The Offline purchase does not include an Online subscription or shared caregiver access.
- Export and keep a full backup from Offline.
- When Online is available, install Our Little Carebook, create or sign in to your account, and set up the required subscription and family.
- If that Online family already contains records, export its backup before importing. Online import can update records with matching IDs; its behavior differs from Offline import.
- Open the Online app’s Data tools and import your JSON backup. Check the resulting profiles, activities, and Milk Stash.
- Review reminders and home preferences separately. Do not assume running timers or every Offline setting transfers.
Imported Online care records are stored in the family’s cloud account and become available according to its caregiver permissions. Imported milestone photos are retained locally on the importing phone; do not assume those photos automatically appear on another device. Keep the original backup.
The two apps do not continuously synchronize with each other. Choose which edition you will log in after migrating so your records do not split between them.
